The Secret History of The World - Translated Subtitles

This video uses captions (subtitles) that translate also! But you have to select which language you want from the ARROW SYMBOL (triangle shape) next to the CC button at the lower, right of the video player.

YouTube recently (Dec 19,2009) came out with a few new features for making captions easier to implement. The one I will hopefully be trying out soon is the "Auto-Timing" in which all I need to do is submit a text file of what is being said in my video and YouTube will synchronize the placement of the captions with the audio automatically.

My notes on this video as as obtained from YouTube's web site:

from the book:
THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE WORLD,
Jonathan Black
-
...Alexander the great or Napoleon were vehicles for a great spirit.. No one could oppose them and they succeeded in everything they did - until the spirit left them. Then quite suddenly everything began to go wrong.
-
Socrates sometimes spoke of his deamon, meaning a good spirit who guided him through life.
-
Goethe said of him (Napoleon): 'The daemon ought to lead us every day and tell us what we ought to do on every occasion."

Free Internet Radio on my PSP

I recently got my PSPs (that's right - I have more than one) updated and they now have this feature of Internet Radio. I tried it and I like it. :) There are very few ads on the channel that I listen to "Solo Piano". It was the first 'station' that I randomly selected. It shows some information of what the current song is and I wanted to know more so I did a search on my computer and found their website www.sky.fm which is pretty good. And from their forums section I discovered other ways to listen to SKY.fm and now have my RealPlayer SP (Plus) playing "Michael Dulin - Clair de Lune (Debussy)" - That info I got from the RealPlayer clip info.

This Information May Have Been True Before

This information may have been true before, but not now and I noticed they indicate it was "Last Updated: 2009-10-13" so maybe it did result in getting the proper AVS DVD Player. But if you use the link on the next page for the actual download (where my first Sidewiki entry details this inaccuracy) all you will get is the installation program for AVS Media Player. I have just finished using the "Report Invalid Link" that is provided on that download page and the automated response has indicated that something will happen within one business day.

Misleading Info is Not Entirely Brothersoft's Fault

The link provided here is (as is says) an "Official Download", but it does not result in getting the AVS DVD Player (version 2.4.4.144), but the downgraded AVS Media Player (version 3.1.1.172). The link is official because it comes from the AVS4YOU website, but it is AVS4YOU that is misleading by giving it the name of AVSDVDPlayer.exe that is in their downloads directory which is a bit sneaky and IMO quite dishonest. Seven months ago (April 21, 2009) I was able to download the real AVS DVD Player and it was version 2.4.5.153. I will be attempting to use the "Report Invalid Link" and we shall see if Brothersoft is more interested in the traffic that this fraudulent link provides or in their reputation for providing the best links to online software.

I can see that the Sidewiki has a definite advantage for providing truth since the website cannot delete the entries.

Warning - Norton IDs Trojan for this Link

I went to the link that is highlighted in this Sidewiki entry and Norton Alerted me several times that it had blocked activities before I closed the page. I can confirm that it was a real attack because my Acrobat Reader opened by itself (so I guess Norton didn't really block it completely).

Glossary of Search Engine Marketing (SEM)

This is a very insightful web page that I came across when looking up the definition for "Long Tail Keywords" that helps a novice like me get a better understanding of e-commerce marketing strategies.

in reference to:

"Long Tail Keywords Long tail keywords are keyword phrases composed of three or more words that collectively are more specific than a single keyword. Long tail keywords are more likely to convert to sales than shorter, more generic keywords because there is less competition for them. Generally, the more specific the search, the closer the searcher is to the act of purchasing a product or service."

Learn Sudoku and avoid frustration

I first learned of Sudoku from the Windows Vista Sidebar gadget, but was frustrated many times. I found out later that some puzzle layouts were not valid because there were mulitple solutions and apparently a proper Sudoku puzzle's initial number placements should only result in one solution. With Sudoklue Pro I now test various websites that offer free Sudoku puzzles online to see if they are valid. I bought the Pro version over a year ago and it was well worth it. Plus it was being updated and improved without me having to bug the developer.

NEWER (more restrictive) Regulations in 2008

Newer regulations specific to the transportation
of lithium ion rechargeable cells and batteries that are constructed with them became effective
on 1 January 2008 that states you may not pack spare lithium batteries in your checked baggage. See the 'SafeTravel.dot.gov' webpage
http://safetravel.dot.gov/whats_new_batteries.html for the latest information and more details.

But you can take some spare batteries with you as carry-on baggage and there is a helpful 'How-to' page that explains what you should do with those batteries. See the webpage http://safetravel.dot.gov/how_to.html about protecting the contacts of those spare batteries from short-circuiting.

Quickly Print Using a Keyboard Shortcut

Since I have been a long time advocate of keyboard shortcuts (as some of my friends well know), I liked seeing the 'Quick Tips' in the November 2008 issue [Quickly Print Using a Keyboard Shortcut] of Microsoft Accessibility Update Newsletter. The use of control-p [CTRL+P] is almost a universal standard for printing which is why I was surprised that Microsoft's Media Player uses it as the PAUSE keyboard shortcut. I assume they thought that it would not interfere since who would want to print the audio. But this has come back to 'bite them' for in Windows Vista I have discovered that occassionaly the PRINT DIALOG box comes up on my screen when I am using it to pause Windows Media Player.

First Entry For My New Blog

I have made this blog in the attempt to get better at blogging. I have been using a nickname of KCinLA in many places. I was hoping I'd be able to get that for the first part of my blogs URL, but it wasn't available. However kc-kcinla was available and then I used that as a guideline to come up with a name for this blog. My first blog Quest for Answers was supposed to be mainly my questions and discoveries regarding spirituality and reality.

With this blog I want to be able to explore some controversies that I have come across on the Internet. In some ways this is a philosophical concern, but also practical that I'm going to sum up as a Quest for Truth. But an important sub-theme will hopefully be that of what to do about whatever it is that I discover, uncover or exposed with the emphasis on the positive. I have found it to be personally upsetting when I hear fear mongers rant their stuff. I'm usually a first learner and get bored with repetition that seems to go in circles.

Lately I seem to be of the opinion that these rabble rousers are knowing promoting or inciting a riot or revolution of the violent kind. As an example (and you may recognize the author) this chant at first I did not understand what it meant: THE ANSWER TO 1984 IS 1776!

One of the main purposes of this blog will be a place that I will keep track of my investigations on the validity or accuracy of facts from various conspiracy theories that had caught my attention. It is not my intention of this blog to debunk any of these theories because I am very open-minded, but also reasonably down-to-earth and logical in most of my dealings with things. And so in the course of being amazed at some of the claims made on various topics I have found that their facts were not exactly correct. But it is very difficult to determine some of these.

I think I'll stop for now. And I'm going to publish it and I'm going to be editing it later to italicize some words and/or add bold-facing here or there. Plus some hyperlinks and maybe more details and/or examples. I don't know if that violates blogging ethics, but I have a personally problem in that many times I cannot start a task because I feel I can't finish it (in time). This way it gets out there (although I don't know if anyone really has seen any of my posts from previous blogging).

BILL MOYERS JOURNAL | Wendell Potter | PBS

With almost 20 years inside the health insurance industry, Wendell Potter saw for-profit insurers hijack our health care system and put profits before patients. Now, he speaks with Bill Moyers about how those companies are standing in the way of health care reform.

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07102009/profile.html

Bill Moyers Journal airs Friday nights at 9pm on PBS. Check your local listings. http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal

Starting at about 21 minutes it really gets interesting. MEDICAL LOSS RATIO is a frightening term.

Then at about 29:45 the obvious is stated that instead of a government bureaucrat between the patient and doctor we have CEO bureaucrats from the insurance companies.

Canada Cures Cancer!.., but no one cares.

And what she IS NOT (cannot) say is that it would kill the profits from the Big Pharmaceutical Companies current offerings to cure diseases.

Thinking about this further and listening to her again I find her replies to questions PRE-PROGRAMMED. I'm not faulting her really. It seems from the data given in this video that much of the required testing has already been done so it would not be that expensive.

It may be more desirable to be an exclusive supplier or manufacturer - plus is that not a slap in capitalism tenet of a free market where there is competition?

This video appeared was uploaded on July 11, 2009 and the users has not given any other information. I really have no idea how old this broadcast is. The users has tagged the video in an overloading manner such that all related videos are from their channel - personally I don't like that.

At a time now when the United States is focusing on Health Care this video is really one of the things that makes me disgusted with the whole debate on whether its socialized medicine or the capitalistic free market approach. They both claim money is a big issue but I have not heard what they intend to do about this which I believe is at the heart of the problem regarding costs.
